Established in 1993, ALN Nigeria | Aluko & Oyebode provides world-class legal services to local and international clients. Committed to developing African legal talent, the leading Nigerian law firm has recently announced the promotion of eight Senior Associates and five Managing Associates
The recent promotions of eight talented lawyers to Senior Associate and another five lawyers to Managing Associate reflects ALN Nigeria | Aluko & Oyebode’s “continued focus on strengthening its capabilities and recognising individuals who have consistently demonstrated strong technical expertise, sound commercial judgement, and a commitment to client service,” says the leading Nigerian law firm.
Founded in 1993, Aluko & Oyebode is the largest full-service commercial law firm in Nigeria, and blends international standards with local expertise. A member of ALN, Africa’s leading alliance of law firms, Aluko & Oyebode has more than 150 attorneys across the major commercial centres of Nigeria: Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt.
As reported by Africa Legal, late last year the firm elevated Senior Partner Olunbunmi Fayokun to Chair, and Adeolu Idowu to Co-Managing Partner alongside Joke Aliu, reflecting Aluko & Oyebode’s strong values of meritocracy, strategic foresight, and commitment to developing world-class leaders from within.
That internal growth and development was also on show in recent days, as the leading law firm announced promotions for more than a dozen of its rising stars.
Congratulating the 13 promoted lawyers on a “well-deserved milestone”, Aluko & Oyebode announced that Elijah Joseph, Aaron Alasa, Oluwatamilore Sowunmi, Lawrence Oguama, Amarachi Nickabugu, James Bank Agwu Huoma, Sunday Agaji and Toheeb Amuda have been promoted to Senior Associate. The firm also announced the promotion of Bukola Akinsulere, Agbada Agbada, Emma Ndiyo, Michael Nwanneka, and Joy Mgbado to Managing Associate, “in recognition of their professional excellence, leadership, and contributions to the firm’s practice”.
The promotions range across the firm’s practice areas, from banking and finance to fintech, energy, and infrastructure, from intellectual property to M&A, corporate governance, dispute resolution, construction, and tax. Several of the new Senior Associates joined Aluko & Oyebode in late 2021 straight after graduating from the Nigerian Law School, including Joseph, Alasa, Sowunmi, and Nickabugu.
Agaji, who was a graduate intern with Aluko & Oyebode in 2019, and rejoined the firm in 2022 after gaining experience at project finance firm Sage Grey Finance and as an assistant to Dr Babatunde Ajibade SAN, says he is grateful for the promotion to Senior Associate, and the opportunity to keep growing at Nigeria’s preeminent firm.
“I am grateful for the journey so far, the mentors and colleagues who have supported me, and the opportunities that have shaped my growth,” says Bukola Akinsulere, who works at the intersection of law, finance, and technology.
