Experienced MENA disputes lawyer Amany Chamieh elevated to partner in Paris office of Signature Litigation
Established in 2012, Signature Litigation is a specialist commercial disputes practice with offices in London, Paris, Gibraltar, and Frankfurt. Today it has announced the promotion to partner of Amany Chamieh, whose work often centres around disputes arising out of the Middle East and North Africa.
Today’s announcement of the elevation of Paris-based MENA disputes expert Amany Chamieh to the partnership of Signature Litigation is a natural next step that reflects the significant contribution she has made to the firm’s international arbitration practice, particularly in disputes involving the MENA region, says Thomas Rouhette, founding partner of the specialist commercial disputes firm’s Paris office.
“We are incredibly proud to have Amany as part of our team,” says Rouhette, noting that her promotion from counsel to partner - after joining Signature Litigation in January 2025 from Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier and quickly becoming an integral member of the firm’s international arbitration team - demonstrates Signature Litigation’s “commitment to developing and investing in talent from within”.
Recognised in the 2026 Lexology Index as a ‘Future Leader’ and ranked as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ in the Legal 500 EMEA 2026 for International Arbitration, Chamieh’s work often centres around disputes arising out of North Africa and the Middle East. While Signature Litigation’s offices are European-based, the firm operates internationally, with cultural diversity and fluency in over 25 languages.
Alongside its work throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin America, its team, including Chamieh, has experience of working on cases involving Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, South Africa, and Tunisia.
Chamieh has been praised for her “understanding of the cultural nuances” specific to the Middle East and North Africa, combined with her fluency in Arabic that allows her “to anticipate many needs” in the region and provide “genuine added value”.
Specialising in international arbitration, Chamieh has over 10 years’ experience representing state-owned entities and private sector companies in complex commercial and investment treaty arbitrations, as well as enforcement and annulment proceedings before the French courts.
She also acts as an arbitrator in ad hoc and ICC arbitrations.
“It’s an honour to be promoted to partner at Signature,” says Chamieh. “The firm has given me the opportunity to develop my practice alongside exceptional colleagues and contribute to the growth of our international arbitration team. I am grateful for the support I have received throughout my time here and I look forward to continuing the firm’s growth in my new role.”
In July 2025 Chamieh was elected to the Paris Arbitration Week Board. Two months earlier, she was appointed to the Board of Directors and Arbitration Committee of the Association Francaise d’Arbitrage, one of the longest standing and most prominent arbitration institutions in France. A native French, English, Arabic, and German speaker, she was called to the Paris Bar in 20123. Early in her career, she worked for for three years as Deputy Counsel at the Secretariat of the International Court of Arbitration of the ICC where she was responsible for the management of a total of 250 cases, “thus gaining unique and insightful experience of the day to day procedural conduct and other aspects of arbitration proceedings”, says the firm.
Signature Litigation notes that Chamieh’s promotion follows the recent appointment of partner Vincent Desry, who joined the Paris office alongside his team to expand the firm’s global white collar crime and investigations practice, as well as the appointment of partner Charles Simpson in Gibraltar. The specialist commercial disputes firm now comprises nine partners in Paris and 30 partners globally.
Chamieh’s elevation to partner further strengthens the firm’s arbitration offering in Paris and more widely across its international operations, notes Tsegaye Laurendeau, international arbitration partner in the firm’s London office.
“She brings a rare combination of technical expertise, international perspective and a deep understanding of the MENA region, which is increasingly important to our clients,” adds Laurendeau. “I look forward to seeing Amany continue to develop her practice and play an important role in the next stage of the firm’s growth.”
